A number of clubs have combined their resources to create a cluster team called the Berkshire Barbarians. The cluster is actively promoting the game in order to increase the number of teams in the County to make the game more accessible and more competitive. These Berkshire Barbarians’ principal goals are:
Currently Newbury, Reading, Reading Abbey, and Slough combine their players to form the Berkshire Barbarians. Teams compete at either the U15 or U18 age groups in a National League games starting in October and continue right through to the end of the season, integrated with the County programme which is completed in the run up to Christmas.
New players are always welcome and no experience is necessary. All the clubs are affiliated to the RFUW and have fully qualified coaching staff. The training times and contact details are as follows:

2014/15 Developments Days
There are three girls’ development days already planned for the season where anyone in the age group is welcome, even if they are not a member of a club ( parent/guardian’s permission will be required beforehand):
7th September 2014 – Newbury RFC
14th September2014 – Reading RFC
21th September 2014 – Windsor RFC
The sessions will run from 13.00 to 16.00.
Further details will be provided nearer the time.
The trial will take place at BCA on 28th September 2014, with registration at 9.00. The trial commences at 10.00. Full details will be available closer to the time.
The next step for the girls representing Berkshire is to be selected for the South West division; a programme that is run in the second half of the season. It is a significant achievement for any player. In the 2013/14 season the following players were selected for the South West squad.
Victoria Laflin was also selected for the TDG; a great achievement.
