Berkshire County RFU is launching a brand new programme in Berkshire specifically for 14-24yr olds who would like to try their hand at picking up the whistle and refeering.
It does not mean that their playing days are over by any means, it is an initiative designed to support them with developing their officiating skills alongside playing or coaching. There have been a number of successful YMO programmes run throughout the Country and now is our time!
We have a launch day on Thursday 25th October at Reading RFC, 9-3pm where they will be funded through the Kids First Level 1 Referee qualification and partake in some workshops.
From there, they will work towards their Level 2 ERRA qualification, be supported in officiating fixtures either at schools or clubs, receive YMO kit and the programme runs alongside our Young Rugby Ambassador programme where the young people receive rewards for hours volunteering.
The link for booking onto this day can be found here;
We would be most grateful if you could share this information with Team Managers/Coaches of relevant age groups, advertise it within your education establishment and encourage any suitable young person to join the scheme. This is their ticket to the best seat in the house!!
Below are some links to video footage of other successes we have had with YMO Programmes nationally;
Remember: - “No ref, no game.”
We would be extremely grateful if you could support this initiative in developing our young people in rugby.
