Steve Cullen, President of Berkshire County RFU, is delighted to confirm that Howard Thomas has joined the Berkshire Rugby Executive Board as CB Youth Chairman and that this appointment was ratified at its Executive Board Meeting on 11th January 2017. This position is responsible for the development of boys and girls U13s-U18s players within the County setup and for overseeing the youth club competitions.
Steve Cullen commented: “Howard brings a wealth of rugby management experience to us and we are looking forward to working with him to continue the excellent work by Mike Crawshaw and his team.“
Howard Thomas declared: “I am very happy indeed to be joining the Berkshire RFU Exec. I am delighted that I will be in a position to assist Berkshire in delivering a player pathway that enables boys and girls to enjoy Rugby through to Adult Rugby and to achieve their personal representative ambitions. Berkshire, despite being a small Rugby County, regularly punches above its weight and I look forward to working with the Exec and the magnificent volunteer coaches and managers to continue this. I am delighted to take this opportunity to give something back to the grassroots of our magnificent sport.”
Howard Thomas has worked at the highest level of Elite Rugby as Chief Executive of Premier Rugby, CEO of Sale Sharks and represented the English Clubs on the Board of the European Rugby Cup. Internationally, Howard has worked with the Rugby Union of Russia for over 10 years and with Rugby Europe, the European Regional Rugby Association, where Howard is currently Chairman of Rugby Europe’s Marketing and Commercial Commission and Secretary to the Rugby Europe Rugby 7s Commission.
