Recognising Volunteers

Berkshire Clubs Volunteers at Twickenham

During the recent Old Mutual Wealth Autumn Internationals, Berkshire took the opportunity to reward & recognise some of the club volunteers from around the county. We were helped by the generosity of Mitsubishi Motors who sponsor the RFU Volunteer programme.

At the Argentinian match, The RFU Presidents Lifetime Achievement Award for Berkshire went to Bracknell RFC’s Steve Ward, who has very successfully run the commercial operation at the club for many years as well as long service on the main committee. He was presented with a gift at the post match players’ dinner by England Coach Eddie Jones.

At the same game we were also joined by Steve Lane & Wayne Foncette, and were hosted by County President Danny Pratt. Both Steve & Wayne were instrumental in bringing Gratte Brothers on board as sponsors of our Under 20s side and in addition Wayne ran the Berkshire Sevens side in the summer.

The following week, Bob Moore, the Thatcham RFC President and one of the driving forces behind the new clubhouse facility and Steve Allan from Hungerford RFC, who is currently Youth Chairman, were rewarded for their efforts and attended the match against Australia.

Our guests for the final match against Samoa were Matt Healey who is membership secretary at Reading RFC and from the same club Mike Amos, who has spent several years as treasurer.

Hopefully all will have enjoyed the small reward of their many hours of dedicated service to their clubs. Thank you.
