Berkshire U16s is part of the SWU16s Group that ecompasses Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Dorset & Wiltshire, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Gloucestershire. Their season runs from selection in May, training and game preparation during the summer and the early part of the season, then one or two warm-up matches before the SWU16s double headers in October and November. These double headers are played on two Sundays and a Monday floodlit night over three weeks at a central location each weekend where Berkshire play three games. These games are against our neighbouring counties (Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Dorset & Wiltshire) and the SWU16s Group (including players from Devon, Somerset, Cornwall & Gloucestershire) selects a squad for the final trials to select a SWU16s team that plays against the other 3 England Divisions (Midlands, North and London & South East) from which an England Clubs & Schools U16s team is selected.
From a purely Berkshire RFU perspective our aim and priority is to provide a competitve and enjoyable experience for all those players in our squad throughout all of our programme. We hope the players return to their clubs and schools as better players and continue to play county rugby with our U17s, U18s, U20s and Senior squads.
