Janette Tichband, with Steven Cullen and Dave Mcateer
The game of Rugby Union has a long and proud tradition of being run by people who give their time and expertise freely as Volunteers, and Berkshire RFU are delighted to be able to recognise the outstanding contribution of those from within our Club’s & County.
Running alongside the RFU Mitsubishi programme, we offer Clubs the opportunity to nominate, through their Club Volunteer Co-ordinator (CVC), people who have given outstanding service through the three points of contact below, and we also have input from our RFU RDO & CRC team.

There are several different categories of recognition and reward available;
RFU President Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is selected by the Berkshire Executive Committee and as the title suggest goes to a person who has given outstanding service over a long period of time. The recipient gets VIP treatment at an England match at Twickenham and is presented with their award at the post match Dinner.
RFU Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year Award
Clubs nominate their Volunteers who are then invited to a ceremony where all nominees receive recognition in the form of a certificate and a small gift to thank them for their contribution. The County shortlist three people who are then judged by an independent panel at Twickenham. The person selected as our winner goes through to the national final at a gala dinner held at Twickenham.
Berkshire RFU Awards
The County holds it’s own awards ceremony at the County Day in May.
The categories include Best of Berkshire which is awarded to the club who in the opinion of the panel has done the most to promote the game and have moved forward in the season.
Senior & Juniors Awards go to the individual who have made a real difference either on or off the pitch at their club
Best Social Media Campaign recognises the promotional work of Clubs through social media
Special Award The County President chooses a recipient, or club, who’s actions during the season define the core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline & Sportsmanship.
Other Volunteer Rewards
The County also reward Volunteers with a special day at Twickenham and invite Club nominees to attend the Autumn and Six Nations International matches as our guests.
Also available is the RFU Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer Gift range via www.engalndrugby.com
So please take the opportunity to recognise the work that volunteers carry out in your Club.
