We thought we would take a look around the Berkshire Clubs and provide an overview of the current activities and initiatives that many are involved in. #onecounty #berkshirerugby
NEWBURY RFC
Newbury are currently in discussion with West Berkshire Council on the possibility of them renting part of their ground which would be used to improve the availability of community sport
in Newbury and surrounding area. This would also benefit the club in that options (under discussion) could include; developing a high-quality artificial grass pitch, floodlights, changing rooms and possibly other facilities, including a stand which would be available for rugby, football, and other sports activities. More news as this progresses.
The club have also been busy actively raising funds through members, supporters / companies / charitable foundations. Projects funded and newly completed by the club include;
- New Scoreboard
- Re-laying the path to the top pitches,
- LED & motion sensor lighting fit-outs throughout the building,
- Replacement internal & external CCTV cameras,
- Various Health & Safety replacement doors & flooring
- Full refurbishment of the balcony
WINDSOR RFC
Windsor RFC have put a call out for more volunteers to help with the vaccination centre that is being run from Windsor Racecourse. There are new dates being arranged this week for Wed 10th, Thurs 11th and Fr 12th. The timings are from 8-1pm, 12-4pm and 4-8pm.

Windsor U12 team have been busy during lockdown and have raised over £2500 for the Alexander Devine Charity. Well Done!
RAMS RFC
The roof has now been put on Rams’ new 300-seater stand despite the wet weather of the past week and despite the freezing temperatures this week they are still on track to have it completed by the end of the month.
Rams recently completed a countdown of the ALL TIME TOP TRY SCORERS.
READING RFC
Reading have been busy and are investing in the construction of a borehole, to tap their own water supply. The borehole will reduce the hefty sum they currently spend on watering the grounds, whilst enabling them to also irrigate more effectively. The result should be a better standard of pitches and greater returns from the annual maintenance and re-seeding programme.

TADLEY TIGERS
Tadley have set up a Six Nations Fantasy Rugby League so that it makes the Six Nations more interesting to watch. The winner will receive a bar voucher (when the club reopens).

They have also set up a fitness challenge across the clubs, run, walk, ride to maintain fitness AND raise some funds for charity.

READING ABBEY RFC
Reading Abbey RFC have joined the initiative #DONATEAPINT this Six Nations. Each donation will go towards supporting the club in raising funds in these difficult times.

MAIDENHEAD RFC
RAISING MONEY FOR CHARITY – Several members of the club have been raising money for charity including Harry Smyth & Dylan McCartney who ran to raise over £1500 for Prostate Cancer https://prostatecanceruk.org/ .

Maidenhead also continue to provide online training sessions for their Youth Section each and very Sunday morning.
ALDERMASTON RFC
Aldermaston RFC player Jamie Manders and his partner Arianne organised and collected donations for the Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust. Over £400 was collected from Aldermaston RFC members from which they bought care packages for the frontline NHS staff for the patching up they for rugby players during the season and for the work they are doing now during this pandemic.
BRACKNELL RFC
Bracknell have also announced a Six Nations Fantasy league competition so we look forward to seeing who currently is top of their league after the weekends results.
