Sunday 17th April saw the final matches of the U18 Girls county program for the 2022 Season.
The Berkshire RFU U18 girls attended a tournament at Wasps FC’s Acton ground with the other 3 counties in their group (Buckinghamshire, Kent & Middlesex). With three 20 minute each way games, there were plenty of opportunities for all available girls to demonstrate their skills.

The girls put on a great display of rugby with the following results;
Berkshire 21 – Buckinghamshire 20
Berkshire 43 – Middlesex 14
Berkshire 5 – Kent 42
CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE
Several of the Berkshire girls have been successful as part of their development and been invited to the next stop in their player development programme and will be moving to both Wasps and Harlequins Centre of Excellence.
What is the Centre of Excellence?
The Centre of Excellence are run by each of the Premier 15’s teams as an additional coaching resource to take those girls showing promise and give them the next step on the England development pathway. The program varies slightly between centres but entails both regular training sessions and inter CofE games as well as additional resources in terms of S&C, Sports nutrition and specialist positional coaching. The aim is to add to what the players gain from club and county coaching whilst keeping them playing with their clubs.
The Wasps CofE usually takes girls from Berks, Bucks, Kent and Middlesex and runs out of Wasps FC’s Acton ground. Harlequins from Hampshire, Sussex and Surrey running out of their base at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.

Lavinia, Saskia, Niamh, and Fleur will be moving on to university next year whilst Millie Evie, Ella, Lucy will continue in the Centres of Excellence being joined by whoever gets through next years trials which are usually held over the late summer.
